Alu Palak

Ingredients :




  • Spinach(Palak) - 1 Bunch


  • Potato -1


  • Onion - 1/2 Cup


  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 Tsp


  • Garam masala - 1 Tsp


  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 Tsp


  • Coriander powder - 1 Tsp


  • Salt


  • Oil.


Procedure :





  1. Cut potato into bog pieces.


  2. Heat 1 Tbsp oil in the pan and fry potatoes till it turn golden.


  3. Boil spinach and prepare paste.


  4. Heat oil in a pan.


  5. Add mustard seeds to splutter.


  6. Add onion and fry till it turns golden.


  7. Add ginger garlic paste.


  8. Add spinach paste, coriander powder, garam masala and salt.


  9. Cook for 2 min.


  10. Add potatoes and mix well.


  11. Cook for 2 min.


  12. Serve hot with chapati or rice.

Potato Curry

Ingredients :

  • Potato(Boiled) - 3
  • Yogurt - 1 Cup
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 Tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Garam Masala - 1/4 Tsp
  • Turmeric - 1 Pinch
  • Asafoetida - 1 Pinch
  • Water - 1.25 Cup
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 Tsp
  • Green Chili - 2
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 Tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 Tsp
  • Wheat flour - 1/4 Tsp
  • Oil - 1 Tbsp
  • Coriander leaves
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt

Procedure :

  1. Cut boiled potatos into big pieces.
  2. Mash 3-4 Pieces.
  3. In 1/4 cup water add Red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder and garam masala to prepare paste.
  4. Heat oil in a pan.
  5. Add mustard seeds to splutter.
  6. Add cumin seeds.
  7. Add curry leaves, ginger-garlic paste and asafoetida.
  8. Add all masala paste and fry for 1 min.
  9. Add yogurt and fry till its color changes.
  10. Add remaining water and potato .
  11. In 1 spoon water, add wheat flour and add it.
  12. Add salt as per taste.
  13. Cook it till gravy becomes thick.
  14. Garnish with coriander leaves.

Potato Bhaji




Ingredients :

  • Potato - 1
  • Onion - 1
  • Garlic (grated) - 1 Tbsp
  • Green Chili ( Crushed)/ Red chili powder - 1 Tsp
  • Coriander Leaves - 1/2 Cup
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 Tsp
  • Salt
  • Oil - 2 Tbsp
  • Turmeric - 1/4 Tbsp

Procedure :

  1. Boil the potato, peal off skin and mash by hands.
  2. Dice onion, chop coriander leaves.
  3. Heat Oil in a pan.
  4. Add mustard seeds to splutter.
  5. Add onion and fry till it turns golden.
  6. Add crushed green chili, grated garlic fry well.
  7. Add Turmeric.
  8. Add Mashed Potato, coriander leaves, mix well.
  9. Add salt as per taste and mix well.
  10. Close the lid for 2 min.
  11. Mix well.
  12. Serve hot with Chapati or Dosa.

Dum Alu

Ingredients :

  • Small round potatoes( Baby potatoes) - 6
  • Onion (Diced) -1/4 Cup
  • Tomato (Diced) - 1/4 Cup
  • Garlic paste - 1/2 Tsp
  • Ginger paste -1/2 Tsp
  • Cumin seeds powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Red Chili Powder -1/2 Tsp
  • Garam Masala - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Bay Leaves -1
  • Turmeric - 1 Pinch
  • Oil - 2 Tbsp
  • Butter - 1Tbsp
  • Water -1/2 Cup
  • Salt

Procedure :

  1. Peal skin of potato, prick it all over using fork.
  2. Apply turmeric and salt, keep aside for 10 min.
  3. Shallow fry the potatoes in a pan until it turns golden, keep aside.
  4. Grind tomato, 1/8 cup onion, ginger, garlic to prepare a smooth paste.
  5. Heat butter in a pan.
  6. Add bay leaves, fry for 1 min.
  7. Add remaining onions, fry till it turns golden.
  8. Add the paste and fry well.
  9. Add cumin powder, coriander powder, chili powder, garam masala and fry till oil shows on top.
  10. Add potatoes, mix well.
  11. Add water and salt as per taste.
  12. cook in low heat till the potatoes are cooked properly.
  13. Serve hot with chapati.

Note :

  • Salt is already applied to the potatoes so less salt is required.
