Karela Bhaji



Ingredients :


  • Bitter guard - 1

  • Tamarind Juice - 1 Tbsp

  • Jaggery - 1 Tbsp

  • Asafoetida - 1 Pinch

  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 Tsp

  • Cumin seeds - 1/4 Tsp

  • Turmeric - 1 Pinch

  • Red Chili Powder - 1/2 Tsp

  • Oil

  • Salt

Procedure :


  1. Slice Bitter guard and remove seeds.

  2. Apply salt and keep aside for 15 min.

  3. Wash with water.

  4. Heat 1 Tbsp oil in a pan.

  5. Add mustard seeds to splutter.

  6. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida and Turmeric.

  7. Add Bitter guard and salt.

  8. Cover the lid and cook for 2 min.

  9. Add tamarind juice, water, red chili powder and jaggery.

  10. Cook well and serve with chapati.

Note :


  • You can add roasted peanut powder to make gravy thick.
