Ingredients :
- Bitter gourd (Karela) - 250 Gms
- Dry grated coconut - 1/4 Cup
- Mustard seeds - 1/4 Tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1/4 Tsp
- Sesame seeds - 1 Tsp
- Poppy Seeds - 1 Tsp
- Coriander powder - 1 Tsp
- Red chili powder (optional)
- Sugar - 1 Tsp
- Lemon juice - 1 Tsp
- Turmeric
- Salt
- Curry leaves
- Cilantro (optional)
Procedure :
- Wash bitter gourd and cut it into slices using chips maker.
- Remove the seeds before cutting.
- Apply salt and turmeric and keep aside for 2-3 hours. If possible keep in sunlight.
- Arrange single layer of the chips and microwave it for 5-6 min till it turns golden.
- Heat 1 Tsp oil in a pan.
- Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds to splutter.
- Add sesame seeds, poppy seeds and coriander powder.
- Add curry leaves and Cilantro.
- Mix chips well so that it get coated by the seasoning.
- Add lemon juice and sugar.
- Mix grated coconut and fry for 2 min.
- Keep in air tight container after cooling.
Ingredients :
- Bitter guard - 1
- Tamarind Juice - 1 Tbsp
- Jaggery - 1 Tbsp
- Asafoetida - 1 Pinch
- Mustard seeds - 1/4 Tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1/4 Tsp
- Turmeric - 1 Pinch
- Red Chili Powder - 1/2 Tsp
- Oil
- Salt
Procedure :
- Slice Bitter guard and remove seeds.
- Apply salt and keep aside for 15 min.
- Wash with water.
- Heat 1 Tbsp oil in a pan.
- Add mustard seeds to splutter.
- Add cumin seeds, asafoetida and Turmeric.
- Add Bitter guard and salt.
- Cover the lid and cook for 2 min.
- Add tamarind juice, water, red chili powder and jaggery.
- Cook well and serve with chapati.
Note :
- You can add roasted peanut powder to make gravy thick.
