Rassam



Ingredients :
  • Tomato -2
  • Red Chili -2
  • Rassam Powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Tamarind - 1 Inch
  • Curry Leaves - 3-4 leaves
  • Coriander leaves(Cilantro)
  • Ghee - 1 Teaspoon
  • Fenugreek seeds (Methi)-4-5
  • Asafoetida (Hing) - 1 Pinch
  • Cumin seeds -1/2 Teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds -1/2 Teaspoon
  • Brown Sugar (jaggery) - 2 Tablespoons
  • Tur Dal -1 Tablespoon (Cooked)
  • Garlic Paste - 1 Teaspoon
Procedure :
  1. Soak Tamarind.
  2. Boil Tomato and peel off its skin.
  3. Make Puree of tomato in a mixer or blender.
  4. Strain tomato using Strainer.
  5. Mash tamarind & strain it.
  6. Take 1 Cup water in a bowl. Add tomato puree,tamarind juice and rassam powder.
  7. Heat ghee in a pan.
  8. Add cumin seed,mustard seeds to splutter in oil.
  9. Add garlic paste, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, red chili and asafoetida.
  10. Add tomato-tamarind mixture, brown sugar and salt.
  11. In a bowl mix cooked tur dal with 2 tbsp water.
  12. Add the mixture in the pan when it starts boiling.
  13. Add coriander leaves.
  14. Boil it for 5 min.
