- Chick Peas(chole) - 1 Cup
- Onion -3/4 Cup
- Tomato -1 Cup
- Ginger (grated) -1 Tbsp
- Green chili -2
- Chana masala -1 Tbsp
- Turmeric -1 Pinch
- Asafoetida - 1 Pinch
- Chat masala -1/2 Tbsp
- Salt
- Brown Sugar(jaggery) - 1 Pinch
- Oil -2 Tbsp
- Mustard Seeds
Procedure :
- Soak check peas overnight.
- Cook in a Pressure cooker until tender.
- Don't over cook. If you over cook it will end up like a starchy paste.
- Cut onion & tomato into small pieces as shown.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add mustard seeds.
- When it crackles add green chili and ginger.
- Add asafoetida and onion.
- Fry until onion becomes golden.
- Add tomato fry for 1 min.
- Add turmeric and cooked check peas.
- Add 1/2 cup water, chana masala, chat masala, brown sugar and salt.
- Cook for 5 min or until becomes soft.
- Serve with Chapati or Puri.
Note :
- Cook chick peas in a cooker up to 4 whistles on medium heat.
