Chole



Ingredients :

  • Chick Peas(chole) - 1 Cup
  • Onion -3/4 Cup
  • Tomato -1 Cup
  • Ginger (grated) -1 Tbsp
  • Green chili -2
  • Chana masala -1 Tbsp
  • Turmeric -1 Pinch
  • Asafoetida - 1 Pinch
  • Chat masala -1/2 Tbsp
  • Salt
  • Brown Sugar(jaggery) - 1 Pinch
  • Oil -2 Tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds

Procedure :

  1. Soak check peas overnight.
  2. Cook in a Pressure cooker until tender.
  3. Don't over cook. If you over cook it will end up like a starchy paste.
  4. Cut onion & tomato into small pieces as shown.
  5. Heat oil in a pan.
  6. Add mustard seeds.
  7. When it crackles add green chili and ginger.
  8. Add asafoetida and onion.
  9. Fry until onion becomes golden.
  10. Add tomato fry for 1 min.
  11. Add turmeric and cooked check peas.
  12. Add 1/2 cup water, chana masala, chat masala, brown sugar and salt.
  13. Cook for 5 min or until becomes soft.
  14. Serve with Chapati or Puri.

Note :

  • Cook chick peas in a cooker up to 4 whistles on medium heat.
