Beetroot Curry

Ingredients :


  • Beetroot - 1

  • Split Black gram - 1 Tsp

  • Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 Tsp

  • Red Chili -1

  • Tamarind paste - 1 Tsp

  • Jaggery - 1 Tsp

  • Coconut(grated) - 1/4 Cup

  • Turmeric - 1 Pinch

  • Asafoetida - 1 Pinch

  • Oil

  • Salt

Procedure :



  1. Cut beetroot into small pieces.

  2. Fry well in a oil and keep aside.

  3. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan.

  4. Add asafoetida, split black gram, fenugreek seeds and red chili.

  5. Fry till its color changes to golden brown.

  6. Grind this in grinder with coconut, turmeric and water to prepare a paste.

  7. Add this paste to fried beetroot.

  8. Add tamarind paste, jaggery and salt.

  9. Cook this mixture for 2 min.
Note :



  • You can use Lady finger, Capsicum, Spring onion and tomato instead of beatroot.

  • Don't add tamarind paste for tomato.
