- Bengal gram - 1/2 Cup
- Sugar /Jaggery - 1/2 Cup
- Cardamom - 2
- Nutmeg Powder - 1 Pinch
- Wheat flour -1 cup
- Oil
- Salt - 1 pinch
- Ghee
Procedure :
- Wash the bengal gram, add equal amount of water and cook in a pressure cooker until tender.(Generally it requires 4 whistles.)
- Drain water and add sugar.
- Romove cover of cardamom, crush the seeds and add it to the solution.
- Add nutmeg powder.
- Grind this in a mixer to prepare smooth paste.
- Heat this in a pan to remove excess amount of water.
- Keep aside for cooling.
- This solution is called as Puran.
- Take wheat flour, add salt, 1 tbsp oil and prepare loose dough as shown.
- Keep this aside for 15-20 min.
- Now prepare small rounds of Puran.
- Apply oil to the palm and prepare small rounds of dough.
- Spread flour on the rolling surface.
- Roll the dough in small round shape using rolling pin.
- Put the Puran round over the dough as shown.
- Warp the puran round with the dough as shown.
- Remove the excess dough.
- Now roll this like Chapati.
- Heat flat pan and roast this.
- Using Spatula turn the side and roast it well.
- After removing from the gas apply ghee to
the Puran Poli. - Serve this with milk or ghee.
Note :
- This proportion is given for granular sugar (generally used in India).
- If you are using powdered sugar (generally used in USA) take little bit more than given proportion. Sugar in USA is less sweet compared to India.
